Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio With Lego NXT Mindstorms
Robotics have evolved rapidly in the last 10 years and there are a lot of ways to start building your own robots. But just like it was 30 years ago, there is no better way to start than with Toy Robots.
And not just Toy Robots, but Lego branded ones. But unlike 30 years ago, these new Toy Robots can do way a lot more than before.
The name of these Lego Robots is NXT Mindstorms and if you know about them, you will be glad to know that now there is a easy way to use free professional robotics software with them. Thanks to the swift and clever work of Vladimir Bodurov. That has made a Open Source .NET/WPF based app that lets you control your Lego NXT Mindstorm Toy Robot from your Windows PC.
This can give you a quick start to learning how to extend his work and get a quick understanding of what can be done too. The source code is in Codeplex for you to check out if interested. The Robot Control app in question was made with Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio; the very same software that is now fully free to download.
So if you are interested in Robotics but don’t know where to start, this is a really good way to do it and do it quick. While also learning to do it with the right software from the very beginning.
