WobZip: Unzip Files Online

tmp4988

File unzipping is a basic and common task, and it has been so for a long long time now. The only thing that has changed is that there are now up to 10 common file compression formats you will get to stumble with and that the password protection levels vary a lot depending on the compression file format and the mode the file is compressed.

That is why you usually need to have WinRAR or p7zip around. But what if you are not in your machine, there is not a good uncompressing software installed and you are in a hurry?. Or you want to check what it is inside a compressed file before downloading it because of the same reasons?.

WobZip is online file uncompressing app you can use to uncompress both local and online compressed files.

As seen in the photos above, WobZip only got Two modes  to choose from:

    1.-Local

    2.-Non-Local

So once you have chosen the mode you need, you only need to give out the path of the file you want to uncompress and that will be it. The only limitations are that

A)It has to be below the 100mb limit,

B)The file has to match one of the supported file compression formats,

C)It cannot be password protected at the moment given it still Beta state, password protected files got a high chance of just corrupting the compressed file.

    Some Notes

While WobZip may look like a online tool not really that useful or worthy to remember at first look. It is actually a good idea, because the second most common kind of file that carries malware and spyware happen to compressed files.

Being able to look into a compressed file hosted online before downloading it, while it is being pre-scanned for virus remotely, makes for a effective way to avoid any chance of installing malware of any kind.  And it is also a good website to bookmark if someone you know cannot open a compressed file, because of not having the right software for it.
